MEREDIAN, Aug. 24th, 1853.
TO FREDERICK DOUGLASS: DEAR SIR:—
Enclosed is $2 for your paper, which I re-
ceive. I wish you to stop sending it to me
when the time expires, for which this money
pays. Not because of any disaffection do I
make this request, for I bid you God speed
in your arduous labors in behalf of our
crushed brethren and sisters; but it is be-
cause I am unable to pay for it. According
to the bill received from you, dated March
31, my current year will expire Sept. 31.
We must sincerely thank our friend for
his words of encouragement, and will com-
ply with his request when he informs us of
his NAME.—F. D.
