John F. Williams to Frederick Douglass, August 21, 1854

D6614

HARRISBURG, Aug, 21, 1854.

MR. FREDERICK DOUGLASS: DEAR SIR:— Your letter of the 17th inst., has just been received, informing me that Mr[.] W. H. Day, of Ohio, has contradicted your published account of the proceedings of the Council that met in Cleveland on the 19th and 20th of July last. Without hesitation I pronounce your report correct. It was my firm belief that the delegates from Ohio wished to pass a vote of censure upon those that composed the Council that met in New York, and destroy the present organization.

Yours, &c.

JOHN F. WILLIAMS.
