Frederick Douglass to John Jay, June 30, 1859
Rochester June 30. 1854.
My dear Sir:
The printing of my address has been much delayed by my printer. I have sent to your address in Nassau Street 250 copies—for which I hope you may find a use. They are not printed on paper of the quality which I selected—and are not so neatly published as I hoped—but do very well for a country Town like Rochester. I am greatly obliged to you for your generous help in getting the address printed. I shall take the pamphlet with me about the state and circulate it at my meetings—I have printed your strictures on the American Tract Society in my monthly—for Trans atlantic circulation. The British like facts—and they will get the facts on that paper. Very truly yours
Frederick Douglass
