Charles R. Douglass to Frederick Douglass, August 22, 1867
Washington, D.C.
Aug. 22nd 1867
Dear Father,
Yours of the 20th inst. was received this morning, bearing intelligence of the death
of Mrs. J. W. Loguen.
Considerable excitement just now regarding the removal of General Howard; but as yet nothing definite is yet known. The match game with the Pythians takes place on the 29th inst. one week from today. The notice in the paper was a mistake, stating that we would play on the 26th instead of the 29th.
The baby grows very rapidly and looks better every day.
Aff Yr. Son.
