Frederick Douglass to H[oratio] G[ates] Warner, June 18, 1873
Washington D.C. June 18th 1873.
H. G. Warner Esqr.
Sir:
Your note of June 16th is before me and in reply, I beg to state, that I have not yet abandoned the hope of some day erecting a dwelling house on my lot in Rochester—yet if a reasonable sum were offered me I should be quite willing to sell the lot in question.
As to the opening a street on the south line of my land and laying off lots on the street thus opened, I am not decided in my views. My time and attention are too much occupied with other affairs. I would prefer to sell out right and shall feel obliged if you will find me a purchaser.
Very respectfully yours—
Frederick Douglass.
