Hon: Gerrit Smith:
My dear Sir:
Thank you for you several notes and for the packet of your letters in the Tribune. I am very humble [illegible], in a [illegible] we do in this weeks paper. I am happy to be able to inform you that I am getting the better of my Ague and fever and I will start for Philadelphia on friday. I am impatient for your volume of Speeches. Shall be in Boston if all be well. I look forward to a great meeting. Highest [illegible] to Mrs. Smith
Yours most truly
