D[aniel] M. Marshall to Frederick Douglass, April 8, 1870
Washington City
April 8. 1860.
Sir
I return you herewith the papers in the case of Mary Clary claiming arrears of pension due James Bryant, deceased.
I have caused enquiries to be made at the Third Auditor's office, and find that there official correspondence is being carried on with you relative to the discrepancies in claimants testimony.
It is thus in the proper train for decision by a public officer with whom I cannot interfere.
Yours respectfully,
Frk Douglass
