Limerick Nov. 16th 1845

Dear Friend,

Yours of 13th. Nov. came to hand yesterday I find by looking over your former note you were right about having informed me respecting the time of the contemplated meeting to be held in Bermingham. I write now to tell you, That you may appoint any time you think proper, after a week from Monday the 17th. nov. I plege myself to be on hand.

I regret that circumstances here make it necessary for me to break my engagement to be in Dublin on the 20th. When I ingaged to do so I supposed I could lecture here on the 19th. and take the Stage for Dublin on the 20th.—but I now find that the room, in which I was to lecture had been previously engaged to—a company who are to have a Ball on that Evening.

This however Should not have prevented me, but that a number of young gentlemen here who have become

interested in me and my mission & are very anxcious—and have really prepared to give me a soiree on friday Evening next. It seems a pity to disappoint them, Besides the old maxim, "that a bird in hand is worth two in the bush,["] applies with some force in this instance. I have therefore consented to stay over friday. You may feel assured if health and Strength permits I shall be with you on Saturday Evening next. Many thanks for the friendly interest you have taken—and continue to take in my welfare,

Most truly yours

F. Douglass

P.S. have you ascertained J. N. B.'s Post Office Address—and have you written to him. If he has not come to Dublin please write him to meet me in Birmingham at such time as you may appoint. Again

Most truly Yours
