Frederick Douglass Unknown, July 30, 1846
Edinburgh 30
july 1846
Dear Friend—I shall leave here for New Casle upon Tyne—Saturday. I write now to request that you will send any communication you may have for me between this and the 4th. Aug to that place, as I shall not leave there before the 5th. I have now on satisfactory terms agreed with the Scotish Antislavery Society to become there agent, and to labour in Scotland for a while. It is deemed very important to continue the agitation. My refusal to serve as an agent threw the Committee here into some confusion as they had relied upon me for that office.
I shall speak here tomorrow Evening in Commemoration of West India emancipation.
In haste yours Sincerely
F Douglass
