Frederick Douglass to Mary A. Bosbyshell, July 15, 1879

Washington D.C. July 15. 1879

Mrs M. A. BosbyShell:

Dear Madam,

I should be glad if I could help you to the Postage Stamps for which you ask, but I cannot. You might apply to the President of the United States—or to the Secretary of State of the U. States—or better Still, perhaps, the President of Liberia—or to the Post master General of Bolivia. I think, that either one of or the other or all of them might be able to respond to your request favorably.

Respectfully yours

Fredk. Douglass
