George W. Williams to Frederick Douglass, July 14, 1875

Washington City D.C.

July 14th 1873

Dear friend Douglass:

I find that I have not sufficient money to pay my board; and, at the same time pay my passage home.

Will you please pardon me for asking you to pay my board, which is $14.00; and I will pay you as soon as I can.

I wanted to speak to you last evening; but forgot it.

Yours for the truth
