Frederick Douglass to Blanche K. Bruce, 1875
Senator Bruce:
I have read your speech with pleasure. It is a wise, temperate and timely speech. I have nothing to add to it or to take from it. Standing alone, it is a complete thing and is just such an utterance as I could have you make as your first utterance in the Senate.
Very truly yours,
Fredk Douglass
