Frederick Douglass to Sylvester R. Koehler, May 5, 1868
Rochester May 5. 1868
My dear Mr Koëhler:
I am obliged by your address. I had some idea of moving to Vineland, but that is now given up. I shall probably spend my days in Rochester. I like the place but detest the climate. I do not know how the Commonwealth came by its knowledge of my going to Vineland. I have never authorised such publication. Those Vinelanders are great at advertising and this I suppose is a specimen of their handy work.
Very truly yours
Frederick Douglass
