F. J. P. Wherung to Frederick Douglass, October 23, 1851

1

Alfred Academy, 23d Oct., 1851.

Mr. Douglass:—I would respectfully inform you, that when in your paper of October 16th, we read, "The Baptist Church was undergoing repair, and the Presbyterian Church refused to admit the meeting," we believe it a big mistake; for it was the Presbyterian Church which was repairing and the Baptists refused you to lecture in theirs. Therefore, if you do not like to be criticised, you may (if you please) repair this mistake.

I am, Mr. Douglass, with profound respect, your obliging contemporary,

F. J. P. Wherung.

We thank our friend for the correction.
