John Mosher to Frederick Douglass, October 21, 1852

1

Canandaigua, Oct. 21, 1852.

Friend Douglass:—I wish to say through your paper that the Free Democracy of Ontario County, at their Convention, held at Canandaigua yesterday, nominated the following ticket for the county. They are thorough temperance men, most of their names have been adopted by the Temperance Alliance, and I trust to see some, if not all of them, elected in November:

For Member of Congress, 26th District—E. Willard Frisbit, of Ontario.

For Sheriff—Wm. Seary, of Victor.

For County Clerk—Wm. M. Chapman, of Canandaigua.

For District Attorney—Jacob A. Wader, of Phelps.

For Overseer of the Poor—Zenas S. Wheeler, of Phelps.

For First Assembly District—John S. Hogarth, of Seneca.

For Second Assembly District—Stephen A. Cadding of Bristol.

The Convention was numerously attended, and was eloquently addressed by Asa B. Smith, F. M. K. Glen, and J. W. Johnson.

Delegates from the various towns gave encouraging reports for the Free Democratic cause in their various localities. You will hear from us early in November.

Yours,

John Mosher.
