Frederick Douglass to Amy Post, October 1853

Dear Amy:
If the sympathy of a sincere friend be of value to you, as you bend over your sick child, you have mine.
You must not wear yourself down with too much watching and nursing. Allow others to do some things. Isaac said you were a sleep when he left you this morning. I was glad that you could sleep, and rest for you looked worn.
Be of good cheer. Yours truly
Frederick Douglass
I send this by Dear Julia who has wanted to call upon for several days.
